Travel to London

London is one of the biggest cities in the world with population near 8 millions people. This two-thousands-year city played dominant role during all its history. Starting from the center of province in times of Roman Empire it became the capital of England and The United Kingdom.
Nowadays London is an example of greatly developed city. It plays significant role in financial life of the world, being one of the two biggest business centers together with New York. Economical power is supported by political and cultural influence. London is recognized as leading one in arts, cultural events, fashion, sports and many other spheres. It has multinational population what lets everyone feel free when they stay in the city.
London is included into the list of TOP-visited cities and so far it has good touristic infrastructure. Its International Airport is the busiest one in the world and we checked it by ourselves.

The city offers many variants of public and personal transport, hotels, eateries and attractions. Many points of interest are available, including World Heritage Sites. In summer 2012 it will host Summer Olympic Games for the third time.
The Tower of London is a World Heritage Site and famous castle of British Royal Family. Being founded in the 11th century, it was used as a prison, as monarchs' residence and as museum in our days. It still keeps royal crown inside. The Tower stands on the bank of River Thames and is a nice place to make a couple of shots with your camera. The Tower Bridge, located nearby, is as interesting location as well. You may read a lot about it, but it is better to go inside with a guide. Our guide was great and showed real performance. He played whole story in roles and I haven't seen something like that before.
The Palace of Westminster is a beautiful location that serves as a home for UK queen and her family. And it is famous not only because of the architecture. The ceremony of guards' change is a unique attraction itself and thousands of people comes here every year to see this show-like custom.

Westminster Abbey is one of the oldest churches in Great Britain. It is well-known as a place where British Royal Coronation and Burial ceremonies take place. This gothic-style abbey is a Royal Peculiar. It is under the direct rule of British monarchs who are the heads of Anglican Church.
London Eye (or Millennium Wheel) is a huge 135-meter tall construction built in 2000 when millennium celebrations took place. Nowadays it is the third biggest observation wheel in the world.
The British Museum is one of the biggest in the world and has more than 7 millions of items in its collections. It describes human history from the very beginning till modern times. It was founded in the middle of the 18th century. Nowadays it has millions of visitors every year and there are no entrance fees what is quite a nice fact.
